
The superpower of the youth was evident during the Yuva Sangam 2024 organised by the Belthangady Deanery on November 17 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Madanthyar.
In this cultural and sports meet, members of YCS Belthangady unit showed their exemplary performance and bagged many prizes, which emerged them as the runners of overall championship.
The event was inaugurated by Rev Fr Anil Avild Lobo, Deanery Director and Rev Fr Stany Goveas, Parish Priest, Madanthyar, Sr Jecintha Baretto, Animator, Belthangady Unit, and other leaders including Robin Joseph Sera, Former Animator, Madanthyar, along with deanery animators and office-bearers.
Vivan D’Souza of Belthangady unit, President of Deanery YCS welcomed the gathering.

The event included competitions in Group Singing,
Group Dance, Quiz, Bottle art and Collage making. Cultural events were followed by sports activities such as Volleyball, Throwball, Shuttle Badminton, Shotput, 100m Running, 1500m Running, Relay and Tug of War.
Belthangady unit YCS members secured the following prizes.
1) Evon D’Souza and Sharon Crasta – 1st place in Bottle art
2) Group singing – 1st place
3) Group singing – 1st place
4) Rishel Sequiera – 3rd place in collage making
3) Sweedal Vas – 1st place in 1500m running
4) Praveen Pinto and Arlin Martiz – Winners in mixed doubles shuttle badminton
5) Runners in Throwball
6) Abhigail – 3rd place in Shotput.
Securing these prizes made the team reach the second highest overall score making them the runners overall champions.
The students were well mentored by Animators Sr Jacintha Baretto, Mrs Preetha D’Souza, Mr James Barboza and Br Alrick.
Director of YCS unit Rev Fr Clifford Pinto and Parish Priest Very Rev Fr Walter DMello congratulated the team on their achievements.
Hardwork by the students and guidance by the animators were highly appreciated.
